Community and Mission

A Premier Experience

Just six miles north of Boca Grande lies one of Southwest Florida’s premier golf club experiences: Lemon Bay Golf Club. This 18-hole course offers an unparalleled inside view of the coast and takes golfers on a scenic journey over Lemon Creek, along the intra-coastal waterway, and around the property’s eagle preserve. Since 1989, it has been cherished by golf enthusiasts in the local communities of Boca Grande, Placida, and Englewood. The mission of Lemon Bay Golf Club has withstood the test of time: to offer an exceptional golf experience by promoting the love of the game; encouraging congeniality among members, staff, and guests; being responsible citizens of our community and dedicated stewards of our environment. Not only do our members support this mission, but they also embody it.

Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary

Lemon Bay has made a commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible land management practices, aiming to minimize its environmental impact while providing quality golfing experiences. We are honored that bald eagles, alligators, owls, manatees, juvenile tarpon, and a surplus of aquatic, avian, and terrestrial wildlife call the course their home. For 20+ years, Lemon Bay has been an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. To earn this designation, the Club consistently meets criteria related to environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation, and education.

Golf Course

Boasting a challenging par of 71 spread across 18 uninterrupted holes, Lemon Bay differs from traditional Florida golf course layouts by prioritizing minimal real estate encroachment. This compact, walkable course emphasizes the natural essence of the game to stand as a testament to golfing excellence. o Crafted by architect Drew Rogers, the course presents a challenge for golfers at the highest skill level, while remaining inviting for players of all abilities. Lemon Bay Golf Club has three practice facilities: driving range, putting green, and short game area. The driving range is located just past the first tee on the left side of the road. We ask that longer clubs are played down the left side of the range for safety purposes. On the left, beyond the maintenance building is our short game facility. This area is for pitching, bunker play, and short game practice. Our putting green is located across from the driving range, between holes 8 and 9. Practice Facilities

The “Look to the Future” project, the renovation of our entire golf course, was the vision of many of our members. The intent was not to change Lemon Bay Golf Course, but to make it a better version of who we are and what we represent. Our Professional Golf Course Architect, Drew Rogers, has done a masterful job of accomplishing that goal. Course Renovation by Drew Rogers A Modern Vision at Lemon Bay

In spring 2023, Drew Rogers and the team began the undertaking. Spanning 6,610-yards, the course offers unique structures such as the signature Drew Rogers shared fairways as seen between Holes 13 and 14 and the nicknamed “Horseshoe Bunker” linking Hole 4 to Hole 6. Rogers also introduced the Punchbowl Green on Hole 8, reminiscent of classic golf course architecture.

Rogers’ plan embraces the course’s intimate setting and natural beauty, while providing a stronger sense of identity, greater variety, and memorability. His ability to strike a balance between honoring the Club’s heritage and infusing innovative design elements resulted in a course that exceeded expectations.

The star of the show, the greens complexes, are all complemented by the varied approach and recovery opportunities through the introductions of more defined angles of play.

Etiquette

4 Hours for 18 Holes Pace of Play All golfers are to maintain a reasonable rate of play. The pace of play for a round of golf at Lemon Bay Golf Club is calculated at 4 hours according to the USGA Pace Rating. Excep tionally fast players or riding players should not encroach upon groups maintaining this pace. If you are being held up, please notify the ranger on course. When unable to maintain the pace for any reason, players must give way to faster players and not resume play until the faster. We encourage players to play in a four-ball format to maintain the pace of the course and flow of operations. If you would like to play a game, call the golf shop and they will be happy to pair you in one of our many games. This also gives you an opportunity to get to know your fellow members better. All golfers are expected to abide by the following golf etiquette: • Bunkers must be raked properly, and entered and exited at the lowest point to avoid damage to faces. • Using the sand mix to properly fill divots restores a smooth playing surface and is expected every time a player creates or sees a divot. • While on greens, ball marks to be repaired properly.
