While the Chicago Yacht Club is dedicated to our on-the-water membership groups: racing sail, cruising sail and powerboat; we also have an ardently active volunteer base and social event calendar. You do not need to own a boat to join the Chicago Yacht Club!
WelcomeAboardChicagoYachtClub Founded in 1875, Chicago Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most respected yacht clubs in the world. The Club is home to a winning America’s Cup skipper, Olympic medalists and hopefuls, and outstanding boaters of all types, from ages 4 to 100.
The Water is Calling You When you become a member you are invited to meet and learn from fellow power and sail enthusiasts; take lessons at our Nationally Recognized Sailing School for adults and juniors, volunteer on a committee and socialize with friends and family on land or in the waters of Lake Michigan and beyond.
No Boat ? No Problem. Chicago Yacht Club members have a passion for getting out on the water, but almost 40 percent do not own a boat. The Chicago Yacht Club owns a fleet of over 150 boats, including sail boats and power boats available for Members to rent. In addition, the waterfront is more accessible than ever with paddle boards and kayaks.
On the Water The Chicago Yacht Club is home to several active fleets, including the Racing Yacht Fleet, Power Fleet, Offshore Fleet and Cruising Sail Fleet. Our fleets host numerous world-class regattas as well as social activities both on and off the water. Each fleet has its own organization, schedule and meetings. Our active fleets plan weekend trips to towns along the Lake Michigan shores. Summer fleet parties with views unlike anything else in Chicago are always a member favorite.
NationallyRecognizedSailing We are recognized as a leader in sailing education, with one of the largest junior sailing programs in the United States. Our one-design sailing headquarters, Belmont Station is home to our renowned junior and adult sailing programs. Approximately 300 young boaters take part in our sailing school each season.
Charter Your Own Adventures Chicago is defined by its skyline and some of the best views of the city are on the water. Chicago Yacht Club is privileged to provide our Members with various opportunities to get out on the water. The fleet includes sailboats, power boats, kayaks and paddle boards.
Learn to Sail on Lake Michigan Our ‘On the Water’ team has opportunities for all ages and experience levels. Learn the different parts of a boat and sailing terminology, as well as offer the opportunity to try out the different crew positions on one of our easy to sail Sonars and power boats, so that you feel comfortable in any spot on the boat.
Dining at its Best Located on the city’s shoreline with a 180 degree view of LakeMichigan, Monroe Station offers upscale dining and a menu featuring fresh, local ingredients. TheMackinac Bar is always a popular destination for a quick lunch, casual dinner or to hang out with friends andwatch a game. The patio opens up in the summer for unsurpassed outdoor dining and views of the Navy Pier firework displays. Belmont Station is a family-friendly venue for casual lunches and dinners that typically serve more informal fare than Monroe Station. Belmont serves as a great location for hosting members’ private events. In addition to à la carte dining, the Clubhouse offers summer dinner specials and themed buffets that members love.
Club Lifestyle, Events and Opportunities While the Chicago Yacht Club is dedicated to our on-the-water membership groups, the Clubwe also have an ardently active volunteer base and social event calendar. Our Associate Committee hosts some of the trendiest events in Chicago including Dock Parties, Club Crawls and their signature events, the Big Kahuna Party and Pink Pony Party. Whether you are new to Chicago, or just getting started in boating, the Chicago Yacht Club is comprised of more than 200 active members under the age of 39. Perfect for young professionals, the Club allows you to enjoy all of the perks of membership as your career and family continue to grow.
